"Excellent Hospital Visits and Stay"

About: Leighton Hospital

I had an accident in Greece, fracturing and dislocating my ankle and was flown home on 12th June taken straight to A &E where I was seen fairly promptly and xrayed and an appointment was made for fracture clinic on 18th June. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Again at fracture clinic I was well treated and the staff were wonderful. I was then informed that I needed surgery and I was admitted to Ward 15 on 19th June for surgery. Everything was explained fully to me and the staff made me feel at ease, I was given the choice of a general anaesthetic or a spinal injection, both fully explained to me. I chose the spinal injection and the staff were very attentive and helped me through a very difficult time. Post surgery I was taken to Ward 15, again the staff were wonderful. I was discharged on Saturday 20th June. All in all my hospital visits and stay were good experiences thanks to the staff on ward, A & E, fracture clinic, theatre and recovery depts. particular thanks to the member of staff in recovery who helped me through quite a traumatic time.

Response from Leighton Hospital

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments on the NHS Choices. I am delighted to hear that you experienced excellent care in so many of the departments of the hospital. It must have been a very distressing time for you to injure yourself in Greece and then need to be flown home and brought to hospital. It is good to hear that the staff kept you fully informed and put you at ease whilst you were in our care. Please accept our best wishes for your continued recovery. We will share your comments with all of the departments that you have mentioned Sue Sarson, Matron
