"visit to minor injury unit"

I visited the Minor Injury Unit on Saturday 20th June due to a knee injury, I cannot fault the staff from the Receptionist to the Doctors/Radiologist, they showed kindness and care and explained everything to me, they even showed me the xray and suggested I visit my doctors to be referred for a knee replacement (separate issue to the injury) they decided I needed a knee support only problem was they didn't have one, how can an A&E unit not have the dressings they need, it must be very demoralising for the staff who do their upmost to treat patients to the best of their ability but the system lets them down, I would like to know who is responsible for ordering dressings etc, if and when I do get referred for knee replacement I would chose not to have it done at Solihull Hospital.

Thank you for your post regarding your recent experience at Solihull Hospital Minor Injuries Unit, that you felt that all of the staff who dealt with you did so with kindness and care, and that everything was clearly explained to you.

I am sorry there were difficulties experienced by the staff in securing an appropriate support for your knee. I will forward your comments to Jane Elwell Lead Emergency Nurse Practitioner at Solihull Hospital Minor Injuries Unit, and also to Hilary Clemson Matron for Emergency Services so that your concern may be looked into.
