"Excellence in Action. The Endoscopy Department UCH..."

About: University College Hospital

Yesterday (17/6/2015) I attended the Endoscopy Department of UCH. For an EUS procedure. I had previously attended another London hospital for a similar procedure where the staff clearly had issues relating to the basic behaviours of dignity, respect, kindness and civil communication. Friends recommended UCH. So after reading the CQC report I was referred. I was apprehensive. I did not sleep at all the previous night. I need not have worried. I was greeted in a straight forward manner by the receptionist. Then a member of Nursing staff came and Introduced themself (actually shook hands with me) and explained that they wanted to book me in. When the Consultant arrived they discussed the procedure with me and answered my questions in a frank, transparent and patient manner. (What a difference to the arrogant, unprofessional, uncommunicative, undignified and plain ignorant behaviour of the "other place") The staff in the Endoscopy room were professional, kind, informative and anticipated my every need. The staff in the recovery area were also excellent. To everyone who cared for me yesterday I would like to say "Thanks You". Eileen Carroll.
