Dissatisfied. I missed a very much needed & long awaited second appointment through illness. I am Disabled so have issues when particularly when more unwell, remembering things. I remembered that evening, was really upset when checked & realised, so rang the next morning. The reaction was brusque, but as I had rung to explain & apologise before 24 hrs, they deigned to give me another appointment. However I was partly told, "someone" should have rung for me. Well the Council does not recognise my need for a Carer. This was at 9.45 am, which meant I had to leave my home at 7.39am, to bus the 7 miles to the appoinment. On the bus, my Disabled Pass did not cover peak times, so I had to get off having no change. I got some change in nearby shop, caught the next bus. This got stuck in traffic, because of road repairs I knew nothing of. It also left me with a long walk, for me, to the Clinic, at 8 30am. It was not far, lacrosse Wellington Rd, up Ashley Road, but as I have Mobility issues, took me far longer than a normal person. I arrived to an atmosphere, was asked who I was, told I was too late, I asked the time, shocked, was told 9am. But I explained the problem, with quite a tart response, was told would ask the consultant if they would still see me. They would not, I was too late & would put them behind with all their appointments. I was also told, my transport issues, were my problem.I was told I would be recorded as a DNA!! I was shocked, they were so horrid, even understanding some patients do not turn up. That is not my fault, in future I have decided to book Hospitol Transport to go even so locally, so that in future I will not be blamed for something out of my control. As an ex member of Staff, for 11 yrs, I am aware of the problems caused by Patients not turning up, but if such a huge issue, perhaps Musgrove should address the reasons, rather than assume only Patients fault!! I have informed my GP, they felt they had been harsh & said would write to them. I told them I am not happy about returning to that Clinic, or hospital. It compounded previous negative impressions in Out Patient Clinics!
