"Poor Treatment Pre Op Department"

About: Alexandra Hospital

Today I was badly treated in the Pre Op Assessment Clinic prior to breast cancer surgery. I was forced to remove all clothing above the waist for an ECG test. I have always been allowed to keep my bra on when I have had the same procedure elsewhere. I was deeply upset. I stated clearly that I objected but was ignored. The same assistant tried to get me to allow her to do a smear test from my groin for MRSA but I stood my ground and refused. I turned my back on the assistant and did it myself much to her annoyance. I later asked a member of the nursing staff why I had not been allowed to keep my bra on and was told that ECG's are actually easier to perform on women wearing a bra and she could see no reason why I had been ordered to lose my dignity and told to remove ALL clothing, I am deeply upset at this treatment which I feel was abuse. I tried to post this earlier but it was rejected for being 'identical' to a totally different comment I left! The other comment was about the queue in Out Patients as the staff won't open the door until 8.30am on the dot. Hardly the same! Perhaps the Alex are being selective about comments and refusing patients their say.
