"Operation day - Hysterectomy"

I went into to hospital to have a hysterectomy, i was shown to the waiting room, I was there an hour and half then a nurse came along , I knew it was going to be a bad day when the nurse said to me 5 ladies are here and there are only 2 beds. The nursing staff worked well and managed the bed situation. I was shown to my bed and admitted. My consultant was no where to be seen, I asked where they were and got two different answers, another consultant had been called up to do my op. Unfortunately I don't get on with this consultant and stopped seeing them, so I was a bit apprehensive when I knew it was this consultant. They did say to me they may not have time to do my op as they had lots to do!! At this time I was feeling more anxious. I have to say the nurses where very good and reassuring. I was offered drinks during the afternoon by the catering staff which I think is wrong as I was nil by mouth, after a long afternoon I was informed that my operation had been cancelled. The nurses were very apologetic, I can understand that things happen in theatre, but if my consultant wasn't going to be there and other consultants can't cope with the work load why not cancel prior to op. I was told the waiting list team would call me the next day Which they did they offered me another date I now have to wait another 26 days !! Even after my 18 week window has past today. Like I say I can understand things happen but I feel unhappy with the service I have received.
