"a and e minor injuries staff and service"

I went into hospital with a serious abcess at seven pm I was not seen by a doctor until approx twelve am. I have a suspected slipped disc which was exacerbated by the lack of provision of any type of alternative seating by any member of staff.

Once diagnosed young members of what I presume were nursing staff attempted to insert an iv for essential antibiotics. This was attempted ten times without success by to members of staff in blue overalls.

I am afraid of needles and find it hard to hold my arms in front of me which the initial member of staff I saw insisted on.

The iv was attached finally at four am after two hours trying by a nurse in blue.

The line did not last and my antibiotics flooded the arm. the next nurse tool the line out and said they would be back end of shift to try again, they did not return.

This meant that I did not receive the iv paracetamol prescribed. I was in alot of pain and freezing cold. The hospital had no bed for me and sleeping on an examination bed was very painful due to my back problems.

The staff did eventually find be a blanket and a blanket to use as a pillow. I was still very cold and suffering from a nasty cold already which is now much worse. And of course coughing has not helped my back pain or pain from extraction.

I was left in a four cubicle examination room with the lights on, in the midst of a busy Saturday night. A team member did switch them of briefly but the lights were shortly turned back on.

Many people were in and out of the room either to be examined or staff chatting and a had very little rest. Considering I was meant to have an op the next morning I found this treatment very unreasonable.

The whole a and e team treated me as if I have a low pain threshold, which I do not. Every medical professional I've seen since has said they had no issue with the iv and that I have responded well to insertion of the needle.

I was treated very poorly and would appreciate a review of the cctv.

Once seen by max fax doctors (who fitted an iv first time with no issue or pain from myself) and ward nurses I was treated to exemplary standards. The wards were clean and staff were extremely friendly, professional and attentive. My pain was managed well and they listened to me regarding my restriction on movements due to my back.
