"need appointment for annual mammogram"

About: West Scotland Breast Screening Centre

(as the patient),

I have not had a letter to confirm when my mammogram is, and I need this to be before my annual check up now on the 27th July. I need my mammogram to be in June or on the Friday 24th July, if not then move both my mammogram and annual check up for June asap.

I am not happy that you keep changing my annual appointments from May to June and then July. Please give me an appointment asap as I will have to arrange time off work.

Also there are no phone number on you web site for me to call and make appointments.

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Good morning,

I can understand your frustration with trying to organise these appointments, particularly if you have found it difficult to locate a number to call.

The breast screening service is a national service, and the contact details for all of the centres can be found on the following site: http://www.nsd.scot.nhs.uk/services/screening/breastscreening/screeningcentres.html

The West Scotland Centre (in Nelson Mandela Place in Glasgow) can be contacted on 0141 800 8800 (they are open from 9am) or by email at GG-UHB.wosbs@nhs.net.

I hope this helps to get your next appointment sorted more easily.

Kind Regards,

Lorna

Thanks but this does not help me at all.

My annual appointments have always been in the Western and they told me I had to have an annual mammogram and not every two years as previously advised. My annual check up is the 27th July at the western so I would expect my annual mammograms to be there too as that is where I went.

Do you have a number for the x-Ray department where the mammograms are done & then I can call them to arrange as this reply is not very helpful?

Hello there,

I've been in touch with colleagues from the service for more information. The breast service has moved from the Western Infirmary to Gartnavel General for inpatients and day cases, however there is still an outpatient service at Church Street at the moment. The Church Street clinic number is 0141 211 2595, or it may also be useful for you to contact the Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist Team on 0141 301 9856 or 0141 211 3459 who will be able to give you more information.

Alternatively, you can email me directly with some of your details and I can get some more personalised information for you - my email address is lorna.gray@ggc.scot.nhs.uk.

I hope this gets you to the information you are looking for.

Best Wishes,

Lorna
