"Surgical 3"

After a long stay on this ward I must say most of the staff are wonderful, however many lack basic skills and are at a loss if they are confronted with an unwell patient and seem at a loss as what to do next, mostly ignoring the situation until relatives/friends have to get involved. Twice a drip was nearly put into the wrong patient as the nurse did not know the difference between bed B and bed D (I agree they sound similar). On the second occasion this happened with the same nurse who just laughed it off. Not laughable if a relative had not been there and questioned why medication was being given! This could have been serious and was just laughed off. On another occasion no blood pressure or other observation done for over 10 hours, when the nurse was asked why not done they said they must have forgotten! Kings sort it out before harm is done.
