"Staying at coronary care unit"

About: Hammersmith Hospital

In the waiting room I was shocked from the amount of cockroaches wandering about. The doctor who treated my mother wore the same clothes - jeans and a tshirt - that they wearing before getting into the unit. The ambulance and nurses were generally excellent but some acted arrogantly expecting my mother to take pills without knowing what they were for and also they would not tell her that she no longer had a fever, making her feel anxious. Four hours after surgery, at 8am, I arrived and she was all sweaty and struggling to cope with the heat. The windows were shut and lights on. The nurses had a fan on their desk in the same room. Men and women should be in separate rooms as their mobility is restricted and they end up not always in dignified situations. My mother does not speak English and she is not the sort that complains. I feel that people who shouted and complained were given more attention and those who did not say anything were not as well looked after. I recognise that my mother's life was saved by the staff at this hospital and I am very grateful for that but the things that I pointed out need improving.
