This is some feedback that has been recieved from a patient from The National High Secure Women's Service at Rampton Hospital (Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust)
"It has been a hard time getting to know others like me and accepting that I was unwell. I came from Northern Ireland so that was hard for me being away from family, friends and carers too.
Since I have been in a High Secure Hospital it has been good but I still have a long way to go, but I have worked with my care team and used my DBT skills. Now that I have finished as well I am being looked at about going home to a medium/low secure unit around my home town. Each day is different for me and I take each step as slowly as I can. I know not to rush into things because it never works.
People have helped me and of course I have done it myself as I have been unwell for mostly all my life. Since I was very young and suffered trauma i.e PTSD and a Personality Disorder as well. It is not a bad thing to be unwell it makes you stronger. Often days seem like I wish they were over and I was not here but I am happy to know I can call myself a survivor and in Recovery. My goal is to take each day as it comes and never give up because you are never alone."
