"repetitive problem"

About: Whiston Hospital

Since February I have been admitted three times to the hospital with kidney stones. After multiple procedures, check ups and consultant meetings, we discovered that the stones had not moved. During my last check up I was told that If after my final procedure the stone ( as I was also told it was only 1 left) was still there in my kidney, then I would be placed on the list for surgery to simply remove it once and for all. Today I have been told as they are not blocking anything that I can just go home and wait for them to pass whenever. The thing is whenever these stones decide to move, I get excruciating pains, which are not even sorted with pain relief as strong as morphine, and have collapsed and vomited in pain on many occasions. The pains occur so randomly that they hit unexpectedly and they effect whatever activity or social event I am taking place in, without any signal or warning. I have missed large amounts of work, and as a teacher, I have come extremely close to collapsing in front of my 7 and 8 year old class, which I don't believe to be an event they wish to experience. It has ruined events such as my hen do and my cousin's wedding and as I am due to get married in August, I am full of fear that they could hit during the ceremony and I will have to be taken to hospital mid way through the I dos!! The people I am annoyed at is not the nursing staff, or the care assistants or the any of the other members of staff who work in the wards, as these people are incredible and bend over backward to make sure you are happy and comfortable and in my case, as pain free as possible. The people I am angry at are the consultants who make these wonderful decisions without even visiting a patient or speaking to them or worst of all putting their names on letters listing themselves as your consultants, then hiding away when you require advice on a situation. I feel truly let down and feel like my health and well being (which I am constantly being told by doctors that it is one of the worst pains you can experience) is of no importance, and they are happy to gamble with the risk of this continuing to happen for another 4 months. I hate to complain, so this shows how hurt and let down I feel about the situation I have been placed in.
