"Appointment fiasco"

About: Purley War Memorial Hospital

I had an appointment this morning at 9am. I set off from West Croydon at 08.15, which gave me plenty of time. On the way, there was a fight on the 289 and it terminated at Purley Colonnades at 08.50, still 10 minutes' ride away I tried to ring the MCATS team, to inform them that I would be late, and didn't get through until 09.10. They seemed to enjoy telling me that my appointment had subsequently been cancelled. I had taken time off work for this appointment (which I won't get paid for) and yet the team wouldn't budge, nor would they apologise for not being flexible. I got put through to the manager who was completely unsympathetic to my situation and ultimately put the phone down on me. Suffice to say that I will be making a formal complaint, as they now can't see me until 26 June, which is another 3 weeks of pain and suffering. Very Poor all round - you've let me down Purley Hospital and left me out of pocket too. Unhappy patient....
