About: Royal Free Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

was from the moment he got there, the care my husband recieved was excellant, the staff were concerned for my feelings aswell knowing how distressed I was. No matter what time of night I rang, the phone was answered and my quereies dealt with patience and understanding. Thank you for helping me through this nightmare.

What could be improved

Car Parking - without my sons help, I would have had to abort my visit and coming from Bedfordshire this would have been even more distressing.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. We’re really pleased you had a good experience at the Royal Free.

The Royal Free is located very close to the centre of London and as such we have a limited number of places available in our car park. However, we do have exceptional public transport links on the tube, overground and bus and details of these can be found on our website.

You will be pleased to hear that once our building project at the front of the hospital is completed, we will be allocating a significant number of new blue badge car parking spaces, which will be located immediately in front of the hospital's main entrance. I appreciate this work was not completed in time to help you, but this is in direct response to our patients' comments.

We really do understand the frustrations car parking can create for central London hospitals and find it difficult to understand how patients visiting some other neighbouring hospitals possibly manage when the hospital provides no patient parking.

You may be aware that the national planning requirements place a responsibility on us to discourage the use of private cars and we constantly champion the patients' cause during these travel discussions, however it does prevent us from increasing the overall capacity of the trust's car parking provision.

However in light of your comments, we will however consider how support can be made available to visitors who may not have assistance available, when visiting the hospital.
