"Treatment during recent visit"

About: Whiston Hospital

I have left this hospital within the last 24 hours and feel so angry I am desperate to tell somebody of my experience. I went in for surgery on my urinal system. Was shown to my bed space by a nurse who just threw my gown on my bed for surgery and said they would come shortly to collect me for surgery then left the room saying nothing further which I found to be a terrible bedside manner. I had to walk to surgery with the amnesties from the ward wearing just my theatre gown, slippers and dressing gown down the main corridor to theatre. I returned from surgery at 515 pm offered no food and told to drink plenty of fluids. I then was asked if I lived with anybody as I could go home which I could not believe whilst still being under the effects of the surgery drugs. Because I did live alone they said I had to stay otherwise I could of gone . The remainder of my stay overnight I never received any food and left alone all night as if I was invisible they only came in to take my observations then leave. I then was then discharged 8am the following morning straight away after my breakfast was eaten. I felt the staff showed no dignity, respect , compassion , it was all about getting me in having surgery and freeing the bed space with great urgency as even now that I am home I still don't know what I have had done during surgery and what they found and was even told to go to my local chemist for pain relief medication as it would be quicker then pharmacy. The whole time I was in this hospital on this visit I never saw my consultant even once . This hospital has issues it is poorly managed and my experience is beyond believe. No compassion respect dignity communication failings and disrespect shown from minute 1 I will be complaining to pals as there many faults at whiston that need to be heard to avoid many others going threw them Be ashamed you certain few at Whiston you let the rest down that try hard to do what is expected of a NHs hospital
