"Birth of our beautiful baby girl"

Clean, well equipped hospital with wonderful staff' The hospital itself is of a standard that should be expected in terms of cleanliness and equipment, however personal experience of other hospitals in the locality prove this is not always the case. Broomfield is perfectly clean with an abundance of equipment and facilities The staff however exceeded my high expectations. Every single member of staff from midwives to consultants, caterers to cleaners were wonderful. We arrived at the Maternity ward at 1AM Sunday morning and our baby was born at 1.30PM Sunday. In this time we had 2 Midwives and were about to move on to a third due to shift changes. Both Midwives were extremely friendly and professional making my Partner and I feel, as much as possible, at ease throughout our time with them. My Partner initially tried gas and air, then a water birth, neither of which suited so opted for an epidural. None of this seemed to inconvenience the Midwife they were happy to cater to our needs throughout. The second Midwife came into a much calmer situation after the epidural had been administered and was equally brilliant. They had my Partner so much at ease I think she forgot why she was in hospital in the first place. After many hours of Labour another handover was due, unfortunately in this time our baby's heartbeat dropped for a prolonged period. Immediately the room was filled with other medical professionals most of which I regret I am unable to name. We were told we had to go to Theatre as the baby had to come out immediately and a Caesarean maybe necessary. Shortly after our perfectly healthy daughter was born. Every single person involved was brilliant, not simply because of their professionalism but also their kindness and warmth, reassuring and encouraging throughout. After the birth, my partner was put on the Postnatal ward, again the high standards of care continued. Information, advice and care was forthcoming throughout our time. People whose duties didn't directly involve the medical care of my Partner and child, namely cleaners and caterers were conspicuous by their kindness and interest As mentioned previously we have had experience of other hospitals in the region and feel they fall below the standards that should be expected. Broomfield far exceeds it. A massive thank you to all the amazing staff there.
