Hi Thanks for this lovely feedback about your maternity care - I do hope you and your baby have had a wonderful year getting to know each other. I bet it’s flown by. It sounds to me as though you'd had quite a tough time before your wee one was delivered safely just before midnight. It is very reassuring to know that you would highly recommend the service not only because of the quality of the care but also due to the contribution of a warm, friendly and supportive team. Great stuff and exactly the kind of care we're aiming for every day. There’s been a few changes to our service since you gave birth last year. You may well know that we have just opened The Northumbria - our new specialist emergency care hospital at Cramlington ? Local women will now have access to our Birthing Centre which includes 14 ensuite delivery rooms, two ensuite birthing pool rooms, and 20 individual bedrooms each with its own TV and reclining chair for any partners who want to stay the night. We hope that the careful thought that has gone into the design of the centre brings people the comfort they deserve and allows them to concentrate on giving birth in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Expectant Mums can choose whether they want to deliver their baby in our midwifery led unit or have a consultant obstetrician to hand. For anyone with a high risk pregancy or who experiences difficulty, this consultant cover will be available 24 hours a day with a dedicated maternity theatre and special care baby unit. I'm sure you can imagine why we're proud of these developments and I do hope it is of interest to you, should you ever have reason to return to us in the future ! with all best wishes to you and your baby, Annie
