"After 4 Spinal Decompression Operations over 15..."

About: Orsett Hospital

After 4 Spinal Decompression Operations and 6 Steroid Injections over 15 years I was left Constant Serious Pain to both Legs & Feet 24/7 This was controlled to a degree by Buffen Retard for about 10 years, then I became intolerant to the medication that had started to cause liver damage. I was the put on Co-codamol this caused me very bad constipation problems as I had to take the maximum to even start to touch the pain I had to back this up at night with Acetaminophen PM, or go crazy from lack of sleep. Then I was reading the Basildon Hospital Trust Monthly Issue were it Promoted their Spinal Stimulator Program at the Orsett Hospital Pain Clinic. This was a Godsend as I had Just lost my wife of 60 years and was in a depressed state. My Doctor contacted the consultant at Basildon Hospital who felt I was ideal for the program this was confirmed by my interviews with the Team and a operation date was set every thing went to plan, I was asked at the interview what I expected from the procedure my reply was if it could give me 50 % control I would be happy, as medication was causing multiple problems. I am pleased to say it gives me about 60% control I now only take Pain and sleep medications at night as I have found I cannot use the stimulator at night as it caused, bee sting like pain to develop in both feet that became unacceptable as I could not sleep but this subsided after two days of not using it at bed time. Do not expect it to stop the pain 100% ,nothing ever has for me Surgery or Medication. I recommend this procedure to everyone who has reached a point were drugs and Surgery is failing them. You will need Medecation in Airports as you have to turn the Stimulator off.. My treatment by the team could have not being more professional and I was made to feel I was amongst very good friends at all points of contact at Orsett and Basildon Hospitals. Thank you. Bless you all.
