"Most of the staff were friendly ..."

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

(as a relative),

What I liked

Most of the staff were friendly towards visitors and my relative (who was the patient).

What could be improved

Basic medical and nursing care. My relative was not given essential medicines (she is insulin dependent diabetic and also has Warfarin) for two days...this is life threatening and negligent. The junior doctor later tried to give her Aspirin which she is allergic to (and which is marked on her notes); again possibly fatal. She went in with one problem and, due to the incompetence and poor communication between staff; resulting in her stay in hosptial being prolonged while her medication is re-established. I though there was a bed crisis; this sort of care may be the reason why!

Anything else?

My relative has been in Queens several times and each time, there has been the same miscommunication, lack of an apparent cohesive care plan and, on this occasion negligence. It terrifies me that a modern hospital should be unable to provide even basic care and appears to be putting patient lives at risk. Frankly, I would prefer her to be treated at home!
