What I liked

There was only one positive about my whole experience and that was the young doctor (assistant Dr??) that attended to me, he was everything I remember about hospital staff when it was was a place that sick people could rely upon for medical attention. He was attentive, informative, caring, knowledgeable, the antithesis of everyone/everthing else I experienced that Friday. I hope he doesn't become tarnished or disillusioned by all the other negatives...I wish I had his name!!

What could be improved

Someone in excruciating pain should (maybe) receive some help/consideration when joining the queue for Assessment/Registration etc...maybe even some empathy from the staff member taking your details could help....as it stands they only want your details and being in too much pain to enunciate would only to tick them off, it's as if they are only concerned with the numbers....for statistic reporting maybe!!

Politeness from staff - To other staff and 'even' to patients

Interest from staff - In case and/or job

Cooperation/Collaboration - These are two way channels which to be achieved require a willingness on both sides.

Professionalism - Witnessing staff bickering among themselves on too many occasions was very worrying especially when you're being discussed (loudly) and staff are not reading from the same page..Scary!!

Thought - Being left in corridors half naked on a trolley in an undignified way waiting hoping someone knows why you're there, as asking me in my current state wouldn't help!!

Hygiene - Whilst on a trolley outside the WC I witnessed it being signed off as cleaned. The cleaning equipment was not even taken to the room and a tissue and plastic cover I could see on the floor were just ignored...MRSA!!

Anything else?

I have private healthcare (and informed my GP of this) but my GP contacted the Urologist at KGH. I was given a referral letter 'he said this would speed things up' against my better judgement I went to KGH. I arrived at about 10:30 and departed around 17:30 seeing the specialist only minutes prior, he offered no insight to my pain but suggested a scan, I took these details and passed my medical insurers.

Even if I was not diagnosed quickly treating me with a little care and understanding would have gone a long way in helping me feel more comfortable.

Never before have I been treated (unfortunate choice of word) with as little respect, regard, dignity and care even as on this day.

I am genuinely frightened for people requiring (NHS) medical assistance and thought that reports I had seen in the news were grossly exaggerated.

The basics of which were rarely on show at this hospital.

Why are staff like this?

What happened to decency?

Do staff know their basic role??

I am very disappointed to be commenting in this way and only hope that this is an isolated incident.
