"Variation of care dependant on ward"

I am a nurse and a resident in Harrogate . My son has been reffered to the child development unit and so far we have been cared for with compassion , efficiency and professionalism. My Father and mother have been undergoing treatment for bladder cancer and i can not fault the treatment given to them. My best friend undergoing treatment between St James Leeds and Harrogate and has had the most amazing treatment. Im so impressed at the new cancer wing ! Then the medical admissions ward and elderly medicine ! What a difference . A sister eating a bananna in the middle of the unit , a nurse specialing a patient whilst on their phone and smoking an E cigarette . Patients waiting for bells to be answered when staff were clearly visable and not busy. Patient been told no pain relief was available as the computers were down.I could go on and on ........ My experience of these wards was very different and i did have several discussions with the senior sister at the time. When our relative is very vunerable you want to know they are getting the best care possible at all times regardless of which ward or department they are on and from my experience this isnt the case.
