My Grandad was rushed to you hospital and had a major operation that i cannot fault the staff or the drs. But what I can say is that I tried to set a password up to get more information over the phone instead of coming in as I work full time and live in Chesterfield and have a 11month old baby so by the time i have finished work at 5pm, gone to pick my little boy up and got to yourself the cafe is shutting so this means that my grandad cannot come down to the cafe with myself and my little boy. If I cannot get childcare this means that I cannot come to see my grandad.. This is why I went to set a password up that they do in every other hospital but when I asked a nurse on N2 to do this they said it was against hospital policy. Why I ask? It is not against confidential as I was trying to set it up in person. I also think that the cafe should stay open until 8pm when visitor hours finish.

I am sorry to hear about your grand dad and the problems you have encountered with trying to obtain information. If your grandfather is currently with us could you please telephone our patient services team and make an enquiry providing personal details which we can then forward on to Matron on the ward who will be able to look into your request in more detail. The team can be contacted by telephoning 0114 271 2400 or by emailing pst@sth.nhs.uk

With regard to the opening hours of our refreshment facilities, we have recently conducted a survey with patients and staff and their is overwhelming support that the opening hours should be extended therefore we will be reveiwing this in the very near future.
