"Rheumatology Occupational Therapist"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Had two appointments with a rheumatology occupational therapist at Wishaw General Hospital to help with my newly diagnosed psoriatic arthritis. The service I received was excellent and Fiona really took the time to list to my concerns and offered advice to help improve my day to day living as well as, hopefully, allowing me to protect my joints for the future.

My only concern was that I had to travel a 20 mile round trip to the hospital. It would have been much easier if this service was available in the local health centre.

Dear Lanark,

Thank you for your positive comments about your recent occupational therapy input with Fiona. I am delighted to hear that you found Fiona's advice helpful and that she took the time to listen to your concerns, and to understand how your condition was personally impacting on your joints, and your ability to undertake everday activities of daily living.

I am currently reviewing opportunties to deliver some aspects of the rheumatology occupational therapy service within the community, and will certainely utilise your feedback to inform any future service changes.

I wish you continued progress with the management of your arthritis.

Best Wishes

Janice
