I did not actually attend the hospital. I woke up feeling very ill on a Saturday morning and called the 111 service. My call was answered very quickly and after taking some details I was promised a call back within 6 hours. I received a call back very soon after the initial call and because I was not well enough to attend Louth Urgent Care Centre I was told that they would arrange a home visit. A nurse practitioner and another nurse attended me at home and gave me a complete examination and also spoke to a doctor on the telephone. I was prescribed medication along with the advice to see my doctor the following week but if I had any worries at all over the weekend then I was to telephone 111 again. Throughout the telephone calls and the home visit, the staff were excellent. They explained everything thoroughly and were very reassuring. It is good to know that this kind of service is available at the weekend when the doctor's surgery is closed. Thank you to the Urgent Care Team.
