I've been waiting on an operation for months now and when the date of the operation arrived I was slightly disheartened as to the date (it was when my holiday was booked for) so I cancelled the holiday. Lost deposit.
I turned up on the day at the VOLH at 8am, was taken to the ward, spoke to the sister got weighed measured, then this surgeon turned up only to tell me that the operation would not be going ahead as I was on a medication that would put me at risk of infection. Well I've been on that medication for five years, so it is well documented in my files. So why wait till I cancel holiday, turn up for operation and then tell me it can't be done?
Under the patients rights act 2011-12 I am well outside the scottish goverment guidelines to have treatment. I've tried to phone the orthopaedic secretary and all I get is a machine saying she's not available.
I feel the system is all wrong and the consultants do not read case notes properly.
