I came to see a consultant regarding some bleeding I have been having the consultant I came to see did not turn up so I had to see someone else I was taken in to some side room that wasn't a consulting room at all to be told a need to have a hysteroscopy I then ask which consultant would be doing this only to be told I would not know who would be doing this, I do think I should know which consultant will be doing this as after all I should have a right to know, I do think NHS is not like it use to be I just feel let down and worried who will be doing this

Dear reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. We are really sorry to hear about your experience of our Gynaecology department at the Royal. We would like to reassure you that the procedure would be done by someone appropriately trained in hysteroscopy. Unfortunately when consultants are away or off sick, we attempt to maintain a timely service so other consultants or staff may have to step in and run their clinics. In order to provide a faster service, our outpatient investigations are provided generically and it is not always possible to say which clinic you will be seen in or who will be performing the procedure at the time that we are requesting the investigation. However, when it is booked the clerical staff should be able to tell you who is normally in that clinic.
