"Badly treated"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital

My husband was an outpatient. He received a phone call to attend AAU because of his blood count, he was still walking and driving prior to been admitted and he was in there for 12 Days. On arrival at AAU he was examined by a Doctor, later the Consultant arrived, read my husbands medical files and very arrogantly stating "do you want to be resuscitated if you have a heart attack"? My Husband replied yes please The Consultant then stated "do you know that 80% of patients who are resuscitated end up on a life support machine in vegetative state for a month" then pointing at a doctor saying they would not like to end up in that state.The doctor smiled. My Husband said he will take his chances Then the consultant said "its at the Doctor discression wether you will be resuscitated or not" Then the consultant stated "we will make up a plan and you will be out of this hospital by Monday". Never been treated like this before in any other hospital I was dumb struck and very concerned and fearing the worse for my husbands safety My husband was then admitted to ward 4 , and remained there for 12 days. I Tried on several occasions to speak to the Doctor but I was given various excuses for not speaking with me because I was asking questions regarding my husbands worsening condition and receiving no response, as they had taken him off some of his medication, that he should have remained on. The Doctor generally avoided any contact with me as they then stated they didn't like the way I spoke to them, claiming I was talking down to them. My husbands condition was very serious he could not move, his body was badly swollen including his throat. Nobody fed him and he would not sleep because he feared the doctors after what they had stated on his arrival, so I stayed with him for 2 nights and then I was told to leave. My husband and I found the ward Doctor to be arrogant wasn't answering any of our questions my Daughter when she asked the Doctor any questions they didn't know. We could get no information on my husbands worsening condition. A patients relations officer asked me questions and claimed the doctor was correct. After 12 days my husband was taken home by 2 physiotherapists with a Zimmer frame a commode unable to walk and a stone and a half lighter and bedridden and deaf in one ear, 2 weeks later now slowly on the mend. We were told you need a ramp but told they don't supply them short term so he is at the moment unable to leave the house. We would never want to be admitted to this Hospital again. My Husband is 76.
