"The visit allayed my fears"

About: Western Eye Hospital

My optician recommended that I visit the A&E Department immediately to rule out detachment of the retina. The wait of two hours was not as long as I had expected and everyone who dealt with me was professional, friendly and helpful. The nurse who put my drops in was particularly pleasant. When I did see the doctor I felt that they were thorough and knowledgeable and gave me helpful information which reassured me. The only things that were not quite as good were the lack of space in the waiting room (some people had to stand for a very long time) and the lack of information about how close you were to actually being seen. Most people took this in their stride but I did see one or two people becoming agitated. A young child who should have been in bed had to wait a very long time with her parents and pregnant lady did look tired as she waited. I do realise that prioritising some patients would not be popular in all quarters. Anyway, bravo to all the staff and long live the NHS.
