"maternity ward"

About: New Cross Hospital

i had my daughter in September 2013, firstly the care on the delivery suite was good but was very disappointed by my care on triage and on the maternity ward. Sadly when I arrived on triage there was no where for me so I was put in a patients bathroom for 3hrs the midwife who was looking after me was lovely and did their best under poor circumstances, by the time I had my daughter I was so tired due to sitting in a bath for all that time I decided to have a epidural but I think if I was made a bit more comfy I may have had a completely natural birth. The ward was very under staffed. I asked several times for pain killers but never got them so gave up and took some that I had in my bag. I suffered acute anxiety for weeks after I had my daughter which I'm sorry to say was down to my experience on the ward. My recommendations would be to increase staffing levels. Another negative point the ladies toilet was stacked high with urine pots with blood and urine in them, how could they tell which one belonged to which lady....disgusting! Improvements please.......
