My experience relates to an experience at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. I will say straight up that it refers to events several years ago, but having only recently become aware of this website (which I think is a great idea by-the-way) I thought I would share it nevertheless.
The nursing staff at the Royal Edinburgh were great. Naturally, a compassionate approach is important in any aspect of healthcare/nursing though within the mental health sector it must be a particularly vital attribute. It was one that the nursing staff displayed in abundance during my short stay there. They were always approachable and morale seemed to be good within their team.
On the other hand I can't talk about the physical environmental of the place in such positive terms. The building and its interior were rather dilapidated and having returned there for work on several occasions since I can say things hadn't improved.
I do understand however that a renovation of the Royal Edinburgh is currently taking place, and, at long last, it is getting the investment it has so badly needed for many years.
