"Disappointing"

About: Yeovil District Hospital

We recently moved to the area with our baby son. When he had an apnea episode (stopped breathing) we went to paediatric assessment. We waited 4 hrs to be seen before being admitted to the children's ward for observation overnight & tests. Despite being a children's ward, they didn't have baby sized pads to enable them to check his heart properly or a cot that wasn't broken (& unsafe). There was no toilet on the ward for parents so I had to leave my baby son alone to go & queue for the one (dirty) toilet & then buzz to wait to be re admitted to the ward. This was a complete nightmare & very distressing for both of us. The room we were in was grubby & the floor filthy. I watched a cleaner use the same cloth to wipe dirty window sills, dusty shelves, and then the cot (without even ringing it). To top it off, we had to pay a fortune for parking as nobody told us we could get an exemption until too late. We have since returned for a paediatric outpatients appointment. They forgot we were there so we had to wait for over two hours. They then didn't know why we were there and forgot to write to our GP as promised to enable us to get repeat prescription of his medication. When I attended the breast clinic as an outpatient and to have an ultrasound, I waited again for over an hour to be seen in each case, costing a fortune in parking costs. The new parking system requires you to pay in advance so you are forced to predict the length of your stay. You are forced to pay for longer or risk a ticket (which I received once as I couldn't get out to extend it). All in all, despite using hospitals across the UK, I have never had s worse experience than at Yeovil. I reached the point where I have now cancelled a follow-up appointment for myself as I have no faith in the hospital & cannot face more parking costs.
