"wait time for ambulance on discharge - disgusting"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital

My mother, aged 93, was ready for discharge, and was sent to discharge lounge to wait for an ambulance to take her back to Prestwich. She had had a major operation, and was in considerable pain. She waited a total of 6 and a half hours for an ambulance to arrive. Surely, Royal Oldham should have a policy, that if an elderly patient, has been waiting more than an hour, they should ask a different ambulance service to take them. I understand they normally use Arriva, but I feel certain circumstances should result in them using different Companies !!. Such a shame as my mother had been very well looked after in Royal Oldham until this happened, and when she finally arrived home, she was so unwell, and completely shattered !!
