Great service from GP and NHS Glasgow.

I live in Rutherglen all residents are being moved to different health board with huge staffing issues. Doesn't make sense.

Please fully integrate Rutherglen and Cambuslang people fully into GGHB, rather than have them being cared for by GGHB via a service level agreement from LHB

Update posted by Ruthergen Patient (the patient)

Thanks for responding to the quick delivery of services from the time I attended GP to completion of X-Ray by GGHB's New Victoria Hospital.

However the GP experience was not perfect in itself where the GP during the consultation made inappropriate comment on the availability of NHS funding for future possible treatments.

I was always under the impression that the clinician and patient should always discuss and agree the best outcomes for the patient, not the NHS affordability of all available suitable treatments if and when these are required.

Additionally I am confused why an LHB employee is responding to treatments and services provided by GGHB New Victoria Infirmary and GP services.

A response to the above and to the last 2 paragraphs of my initial feedback regarding service level agreements with LHB and GGHB would be appreciated.

Hi Ruthergen Patient,

Thanks for getting back in touch and I’m sorry if the previous response caused any confusion.

NHS Lanarkshire has been delivering a range of services to residents of Cambuslang, Rutherglen and Northern Corridor (for example Stepps, Chryston, Moodiesburn) area from 1 October 2014. Health board boundaries for these areas changed on 1 April 2014, transferring responsibility from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to NHS Lanarkshire.

For more information on this, please visit: http://www.nhslanarkshire.org.uk/Involved/consultation/boundaries/Pages/default.aspx

Patients in these areas are also able to access Glasgow acute hospital services. In addition, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde continues to provide some other services that were not transferred to us.

I was sorry to read your comments about your GP Practice.

If I can be of any help to you in raising your concerns with your practice directly, please contact me on 01698 858 292 or at laura.bryan@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk.

I can assist with this if your GP falls within NHS Lanarkshire boundaries or provide contact details of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde colleagues who can also help.

Best Wishes

Laura

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Dear Rutherglen Patient,

Thank you for writing to us with your very positive experience when coming for an X-ray recently - it is fantastic to get feedback on the difference this system is making to patients on a day to day basis.

As my colleague from NHS Lanarkshire has explained, there was a change to the boundaries between NHS Lanarkshire and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which affected some patients in your area. While this change allowed the Health Board areas to be more closely linked with their relevant Local Authorities, there was no change for patients in terms of their GP, or which local hospital they attend. The link which Laura provided gives some helpful detail around this, including some frequently asked questions. I hope this information makes this change a little clearer for you but if not, please do not hesitate to contact me directly on lorna.gray@ggc.scot.nhs.uk and I will do my best to help further.

I would also like to echo Laura's offer to look in more detail at your experience at your GP surgery and, again, you can contact me on the email above with more information in that regard.

In the meantime, I will pass on your comments about the efficient service you received between the GP and X-ray services, and would like to thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback.

Best Wishes,

Lorna
