"3rd world treatment"

About: West Middlesex University Hospital

I'm not normally the type to write a bad review but after a long list of failings I've had enough. December last year I had an accident at work were I badly broke my ankle and was admitted to this hospital, this in not my local hospital. Firstly I would like to start with a few positives. The A&E team where very good and I found the hospital to be very clean, but it all goes wrong from here. I was the move into the wards were the whole thing seemed completely disorganised. At this point I was in considrible pain and was left in this condition for almost 4 days. When I did request some help it could take over an hour before any assistance. Most of the staff seamed to be uninterested in the care of their patients and when there was a nurse who did show any care she/he was overrun and unsupported. The information given to me from doctors was very limited and my questions and concerns were treated with aragance and pushed to one side. Once I finally had my operation and left recovery I was moved up to a ward. Unfortunately this was not the original ward I was planned to be sent and wife was left waiting were I was due to go for 6 hours before someone finally located me. As you can imagine wife went through considrible distress at this time with no information on my location or well being. Then came to complete mess of my discharge. I was given a hand written note to hand to my gp once I got home. The nurse gave some pain killers and seemed completely unsure how to issue them giving me advice that was clearly wrong. I read the packet myself to get the correct advice. It then transpired that I was not correctly discharged and it took me 4 weeks of fighting to get a referal to have my first cast removed. The consultant at the time explained the correct procedure of discharge that was clearly not followed. That was 6 months ago and I've now been informed the original operation was a complete mess and I have a series of xrays and cat scans due with a very good possibility of having an opperation to repair the damage this hospital has done. This whole eperiance has left me and my family very distressed.
