My father has just been discharged after spending a week on ward 8. This was for a knee replacement. On the morning of the operation he was seen by a wonderful anaesthetist who explained everything so my dad could understand. The nursing staff were good but mention must go to one of the staff nurses and one of the health care assistants. These two members of staff are a credit to the ward and I knew when they were on duty dad would be cared for. This is not to say the rest of the staff were not good. The only thing I was unhappy about was the staff complete a care form each day at certain times. Part of this form mentions nutrition and each day this was ticked and signed. A couple of times I visited dad in the first couple of days following surgery when he wasn't very mobile, to find he didn't have his dentures in as the nurse helping him wash in the morning hadn't rinsed them for him and he was unable to do this himself. Therefore how could the person signing the form say his nutritional needs had been met when he struggles to eat without his dentures. Overall the care was acceptable
"Good care"
