"I have been a regular patient ..."

About: St Mark's Hospital (Harrow)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I have been a regular patient at St. Mark's for over ten years and would recommend it to any other patient. I feel comfortable because the medical & support team are always friendly and do their best.

What could be improved

Things that have concerned me like lazy contract cleaners and their attitude appear to have improved from my outpatient appointment observations.

Still too many visitors per patient allowed for my liking which surely could be an invitation to infections being brought in. I simply do not accept cultural sensitivities as being an acceptable reason for this particular slackness.

I do not like mixed sex units at all and feel that patients unable to leave the bed are compromised in their privacy.

Anything else?

I am still under the care of the medical team as an outpatient having had a pacemaker implanted there in Dec. 2005.

I have no complaints whatsoever regarding my medical care and the environment for me has always been friendly and caring.

I trust this cardiac unit completely so do not dread entering there as I have done in other hospitals in my lifetime.

Thank you for your comments that you have posted on NHS choices. I apologise for the delay in responding to you.

I am pleased that you have received a good standard of care during the time you have been treated at St Mark's.

Thank you for the feedback that you have given regarding the cleaning service, visitors and mixed sex units, which is helpful to us.

Kind regards

Ann Curry
