"I have been seen on an outpatient ..."

About: Northwick Park Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

I have been seen on an outpatient basis since April 2007. This involves attending the hospital for blood tests every 6-8 weeks.

The blood test service has declined over the past few visits. The staff are getting slower and slower and this morning, a third member of staff turned up ten minutes into the clinic, and didnt know where anything was and had to be shown the ropes. This delayed things even more.

The staff seem to have no sense of time and wander around with no regard to the increasing number of people waiting. They are also not friendly, and the staff member this morning who took my blood was incompetent.

I arrived at 745 (it opens at 8) and I was 7th in the queue (and it took twenty minutes before it was my turn), the majority of those in front were pensioners. I work and so I dont see why the hospital cant operate a policy whereby between 8-830 only those in employment can attend. this would mean that those with a job to get to arent delayed by those who dont work.

We were concerned to learn that you feel that the service within the phlebotomy clinic has declined recently. Your feedback and suggestions will be passed on to the manqager for this service for action and consideration.
