"ward 28"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

Had to stay overnight on this ward as precaution after surgery. Was taken to gents toilet as it was nearest to my room i am female ,I needed assistance due to cast on leg.The cleaner was very polite and thorough in their work, the staff nurse was polite and down to earth. Although other staff only 1 introduced themself by name. Breakfast need addressing nothing but cereal or bread and jam, lunch was awful all tasted the same.Overall not drastic but would not stay overnight again if given a choice

Response from Bradford Royal Infirmary

Hello, first of please accept my sincere apologies that you did not get a response at the time. This was due to a technical problem which means some posts were not appearing in our feed. We only became aware of this recently and are working with NHS Choices to put this right.

We do value all the feedback we get and take it seriously, and I am very sorry you have had this delay in hearing from us.

I am glad to hear that you found staff polite and helpful, which is what we would expect from them. You might be interested to know we have an ongoing campaign to remind staff how important it is to introduce themselves properly to patients - this is called the 'Hello My Name Is' campaign, started by a young Dr in Yorkshire who became a patient herself, and noticed how often staff forgot to do this. We are seeing this have an impact and if someone does forget to do this in future, please ask them their name and role, and mention the campaign to them.

I am sorry you found the food was not of a good standard, we will feed this back to the team, though there have been changes to the catering since the time you posted your review.

If you would like to know more about how patients can have their views heard and can work with us to improve please do email me on patient.experience@bthft.nhs.uk Thank you again for your feedback, it is important to us.
