"When things go wrong (no fault of the hospital)"

I had serious complications 24 hours after the birth of my baby after issues during the birth leading to forceps delivery. I fell very ill very quickly and continued to deteriorate due to no obvious cause, the nurses were amazing and within minutes of any deterioration I had a doctor or team of doctors assessing me and running tests, I had one on one care when things got really bad my nurse refused to take on any new patients or go on their breaks to look after me. When things got really bad I had 8 doctors reviewing me and my care, as a team (doctors & nurses) they saved my life. During all of this the nurses were also looking after my new born baby, feeding her, changing her and giving her cuddles. Reading reviews of when things go right is one thing but it's how they react when things go wrong that in my eyes is important and you couldn't be in safer hands than in the maternity team. It was one of the scariest times of my life but the nurses were absolutely amazing not only brilliant at there jobs but really cared and made sure I got what I needed when I needed it and I will always be grateful to them. Unfortunately I did have a disappointing experience with two of the night staff when I was eventually moved to the ward from the maternity recovery (I was there 4 days and on the ward a further 3), who didn't have the empathy or caring disposition of the rest and the way they treated me did upset me but I will not let them ruin the fantastic work that the rest of the team do. This is my first experience of the hospital so only have this to judge them by but in my eyes my daughter has a mother because of them.
