"staff (consultants )"

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital

As a daughter of your patient I'm very disgusted in the way you spoke to my parents. We just got told my mother has secondary bone cancer and it's not curable and that she needs a scan on her organs ASAP. So why is she still waiting 3 weeks later? The way the consultant told my parents the news was appalling, the consultant said " yes you have bone cancer it's not curable we won't be offering you surgery or radiotherapy you need a scan on your organs ASAP " then walked out the room. I know it's just a job and that they probably tell every patient they have but have a little bit of passion for the patient. I find it heartless this is not the way you talk to your patient's.

It is very disappointing to read of your mother’s and your experience. All of our patients and their families should be treated with compassion at what is a very difficult time. Please accept our apologies. If you would like us to look into the issues you have raised here, please contact us to provide us with more detail. Our Patient, Advice and Liaison Service can be contacted on 020 3594 2040 or by email pals@bartshealth.nhs.uk Kind regards Barts Health NHS Trust
