"I have a fractured shoulder and no where to go"

I am 64 male. Six weeks ago I fell over and hurt my shoulder. I could not get a doctors appointment so I went to the walk in centre in Peterborough. I was diagnosed with inflamed joints and advised to take pain killers.

This did not work so I eventually got a doctors appointment and he agreed there is a lump in the joint. I requested an x ray and got an appointment at Kings Lynne hospital.

The x ray showed a dislocation and the consultant said the lump will reduce but will always be there and take anti inflammatories

Did not improve and the pain in the joint and down the arm continued.

I made another doctors appointment and saw a locum. She was not local and did not read my passed history. She agreed there was a lump but to do exercises and pain killers. She did all the talking. There were two instances where I was prepared to walk out. I asked what was the way forward to get it x-rayed again for a second opinion. She said either go to the MIU or A&E in Kings Lynne. I said they will not see me as the injury is now over 2 weeks. She disagreed and said they would x-ray it. I said they would not without a letter from the GP. The was the time I called it a day and left.

To prove a point I went to the MIU and asked for an x-ray. How long ago was the injury, six weeks ago. We can not see you for an injury after 2 weeks. I said, I know!

The nurse contacted the GP surgery and reminded them and said the receptionist would contact me. They did the following day and said the doctor would contact me which she did the day after.

Now, she condemned me as she said she never advised me to go for an xray and it was a slander against her name. We got into a bit of toing and froing and just would not shut up and give me a chance to respond. I must admit due to my frustration I did say will you shush which she did not like and said she will put the phone down.

Now GPs are not Gods. They are not always right, which has been proved many times. Personally I would not give this stand in GP the time of day and now I am out in the cold with a fractured shoulder and nowhere to go!
