"Appointment was a waste of time"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

I attended this appointment hoping I'd finally get support with my chronic pain. Apparently because my pain is all over it isn't that bad - try explaining why I lose sleep, am on high doses of pain relief then? Just because in their experience consultants are used to one thing why can't something be outside of the's experiences. I don't know what the outcome of it is, u was made to strip down then the consultant opened the door no dignity and good job no one was there. Such wasted time

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on NHS Choices. We understand that chronic pain can be a distressing and complex problem so we are very sorry to hear that you feel that you have not had a positive experience as a result of your recent appointment in the Neurosurgery Department. We do expect that patients are supported to dress and undress and to be examined in a way that maintains their dignity and we would like to apologise that your dignity was compromised in the way you describe. We are very concerned about the comments you raise but unfortunately as your feedback has been posted anonymously we are unable to investigate or comment on your individual care and treatment. We would however, be very keen to do so and would appreciate it if you could please contact either Mr Ewan Dick, Acting Directorate Manager on 0191 28 25718 or a member of the Patient Relations Team on 0191 2231382.
