Hi my husband is currently in hospital its been a week today and is hoping to get home today but that might not happen as all 3 of his consultants have been off since saturday. How nice it must be to have such a long weekend off. Really is there any need for them all to be off together and its not as if my husband is a simple case he needs specialist consultants to over see him. His 4 yearold is desperate to see his daddy as he hasnt for a week. I will be extremly angry if he cant come home today because the local dr doesnt feel confident discharging him because the other 3 are on their 3rd day off.

Dear Tulula, I am really sorry that you experienced this frustration and a lack of availability of staff over the bank holiday weekend. We know how unacceptable this is for patients and it is why we committed to building our new emergency care hospital - we want people using our services to have access to consultant opinion 7 days a week . This hospital opens in a few weeks time but I accept that is of little benefit for you and your husband now. I am sorry. I do hope your wee boy is enjoying having his Daddy home.
