After dragging their collective heels over the diagnosis of my torn Achilles' tendon I was told by a consultant that since they were the person to operate they weren't prepared to do it. When I asked why the consultant arrogantly told me that they knew I was upset but their decision was final. With that the consultant sent me (without notes) down the corridor to the physio who gave me some interim exercises to do until I was assessed properly. The exercises caused my arthritis to flare up and so, in agony, I had to stop. I then went back to my GP who re referred me to another hospital, at my request, who made arrangements to operate without delay. If it had been left up to my GP and the RBH I would have been in pain and a cripple for the rest of my life!
