"Thank You"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

I would like to express my thanks to the hospital and the clinic at Bolton One. I attended Bolton One on the morning of 17th April and was told that I would be admitted immediately to ward D3 with a pleural effusion. There started a very pleasant journey. Reception were kind and knowledgeable, greeting me with a smile. The reception by the staff at the ward was equally warm (I don’t think they get many patients walking in). The greeting was a nice cup of tea (I got to drink a lot of those). The administration was dealt with quickly and effectively and my trip to radiology for a CT scan was requested and dealt with in almost no time. I then started what would be 11 days on the ward. Through this time I have to say that the staff (all the staff) were friendly, kind, approachable and helpful – this was often way above and beyond the call of duty. Occasionally they would be busy with patients who needed them more than I did and this was explained to me. I was never left wondering or wanting. I was fortunate to be mobile and was encouraged to walk around, in order to avoid possible circulatory problems. The staff all understood and encouraged me, agreeing when I wanted to walk off the ward that I would have my mobile phone with me and I would not leave the site The doctors were approachable, they took the time to introduce themselves and explain what they were intending to do and why. I even acted as host (by prior agreement) to two sets of student doctors who were learning how to use appropriate questioning techniques and examination techniques to establish my history and diagnose my condition. That took a total of around three hours without disturbing my tea intake. It also taught me a great deal. I think that the bay of four beds that I was in got a bit of a reputation as the party bay (Laughter is the best medicine, even with broken ribs) I won’t say that I want to go back – that would be an obvious lie. D3 is not a holiday destination but if I had to pick a hospital ward, it would be D3 at RBH. In summary – thank you to all of the people involved in my care and treatment. It was as near to a pleasure as circumstances would allow!

Thank you for such kind and positive comments. It is always appreciated by staff and I will pass this feedback on to the department. I hope you are now fully recovered and back home.
