I visited the doctor with a pain in my chest. He examined me, had a nurse carry out an ECG, then said that he thought that there was the slightest possibility that I had had a heart attack during the night and that he was going to get an ambulance to take me to hospital (Southmead).
After a couple of minutes the ambulance arrived (ambulance station is just about 100 yards from the doctor's surgery) and the crew took me down to the ambulance, and carried out another ECG.
I was given an aspirin to chew and something sprayed under my tongue, then we set off for hospital. One member of the crew (Tim) sat with me and explained what was happening and what was going to happen.
I felt that I was in good, competent hands, and I was treated well and with courtesy and friendliness at all times.
