In Feb this year I experienced many aspects of the NHS escalation process. It started with extreme pain due to renal colic " I knew this, as 28 years before I passed a kidney stone and had the same symptoms". You don't forget that pain.!!! We rang NHS 111 and were asked all the right questions I was escalated to receive call from duty nurse. Very quickly got the call. Went through more questions I was escalated to a doctor. Yet again a quick call resulted. After more questions, the doctor decided to call an ambulance. The ambulance turned up in 50 minutes. as I agree it was not life threatening. The very professional crew took me to A & E. The A & E was very busy and I was on a trolley for about 15 minutes When I was seen by an A & E doctor I found them extremely professional as was all the nursing staff. I was admitted to the observation ward waiting a CT scan. About 2 hours later had a visit from the A & E doctor to see if I been for, the CT scan. When the doctor found out I had not they left. Within 10 minutes I was on the way for a CT scan. Result 9.5mm stone and enlarged kidney. Within one week I had a consultation. One week later in day ward at Halton for a fitment of a J stent., 5 weeks later had stone laser treatment. That was one week ago. In all my dealings with the NHS on my illness, I found all the staff very caring and professional and I thank all front line and back room staff for the care they give to us all. You are all stars. :), After reading some other reviews with more negative comments, I thought I needed to give my experiences and impressions
