"Physio - 2 months and still no date for my first..."

About: Darent Valley Hospital

I saw the doctor on 28th February. They printed out the referral form there and then for a physio assessment to be done on my elbows and lower arms. I telephoned the doctors practice and they said that they do not get confirmation from the physio dept whether they are seeing a patient or not but usually get something to say that treatment has finised. How can that be good Patient care? I telephoned the physio department at Darent Valley 2 weeks ago and left a message on their answerphone to request someone call be back to confirm they had received the referral. Its now 25th April and I have had no appointment date as yet and no call to confirm that they even have my referral. I am in constant pain, have numbness in my lower arms and hands and cannot extend my arms properly. I feel very let down by my local hospital who dont seem to care at all. Waiting two months to not even hear about an appointment is completely unacceptable.

Dear DLWKent We are sorry to hear about your experience and will pass your comments onto the Head of the Department. In the interim we would suggest that you contact the department again or use the online self referral form found on the physiotherapy section of our website www.dvh.nhs.uk. This offers patients greater choice and faster access to hospital services without the need to visit the GP. Kind regards The Communications Team Darent Valley Hospital
