"Long wait in A & E"

About: Nevill Hall Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was admitted to hospital just after midnight. I stayed in the coridor on a trolley along with other patients in the most dreadful agonising pain.

I appreciate the fact that we were waiting, and don't have too much of a problem with that. However, I asked for water at least FOUR times during the night, and got some when the morning shift came in! The gentleman in front of me was shouting and complaining, and he actually got a cup of tea and a piece of toast.

I was desperate and crying. I was eventually admitted and was looked after very well.

The staff in A & E needed to be more caring and less chatty.
