My partner has been going to Homerton Hospital for check-ups after an Achilles tendon rupture which was over 14 weeks ago now. In brief, I am extremely disappointed with the services and the competency of the staff. To begin, the doctors insisted that he not have the surgery and did not give him this option. The initial cast was not put at the proper angle (this was noticed a few weeks in by another consultant). He never had one scan to see how it was healing throughout the past couple months. The past few visits, he has been asked how physiotherapy is going, yet no one has even called him or told him how to access this, although they keep insisting someone will contact him. In addition, they’ve said the injury hasn’t healed properly, which isn’t suprising considering most treatment regimens have the person start physio a few weeks after the injury whereas it has been about 15 weeks now. He will likely suffer permanent damage from this injury and physio will take months longer than it should have, if it ever happens.
